Trying to be better informed - STDs - MedHelp

Welcome to our Forum. I'll be pleased to answer our questions.??In addition, I might suggest taking a look at the American Sexual Health Association (ASHA) web site- it is excellent and full of good general information.

As for your questions:
1.) I think I might have had a little wart on my finger recently. There's nothing there now, but I'm wondering if it is possible to transfer a wart from your hand to your genitals or mouth.

No, this is not a concern.??Warts (HPV infections) are not typically spread on one's fingers from one part of the body to another.??In addition, it is worth mentioning that the type of HPV that causes warts on the finger are not the same type that cause genital infections.

2.) I live in kind of a dirty urban area with a fair amount of drug use. Is there reason to be concerned about stepping on a needle and catching anything like hepatitis or HIV from it?

While such an event might theoretically be possible the fact is that this does not happen.??I have never seen or heard of a case of either HIV or hepatitis being spread through a needle stick injury from stepping on a used needle. These viruses do not live well outside of the body.

3.) I got a tiny little whitehead (about the size of pen dot, maybe a pinch larger) on my finger between the knuckle that connects my finger to my hand and the middle knuckle. It wasn't painful, itchy, or otherwise irritating. But it did seem like kind of a weird place for a little whitehead. This doesn't sound like any kind of STD like herpes or anything does it???

This sounds nothing like any STD.??I would not worry.??There are many non-STD dermatological problems which can cause lesions of this sort on the hands.??

4.) Can herpes be caught by ways other than physical contact? Can it be caught from surfaces like toilet seats or silverware?

No herpes is transmitted ONLY through direct contact- not on door knobs, eating utensils, toilet seats or dirty towels.??

5.) And lastly, can chlamydia be transmitted through oral sex?

There are VERY, VERY rare cases in which chlamydial infection is transferred from the genitals to cause throat infections but this is so rare that the CDC does not even recommend testing of exposed persons.??I am not aware of any instances in which chlamydia has been transmitted from a person?s throat to another person's genitals.

I hope these comments are helpful. Please take a look at the ASHA web site. EWH

  1. Powerful Herbal treatment is 100% guarantee for HSV cure, the reason why most people are finding it difficult to cure HSV 1 or 2 is because they believe on medical report, drugs and medical treatments which is not helpful to cure HSV and hasn't proved any sign of helping. Natural roots/herbs are the best remedy which can easily eradicate herpes forever. I never believed it until I was helped and cured of my 16 months genital herpes with natural herbal medicines from Dr OGU Patrick. Where other medical prescribed drugs and treatments failed, Natural herbs helped saved me from Genital herpes permanently and i am so grateful for this.
