Swimming hires two-time Olympian
Bartoch, a member of Canada's national team for over 10 years, is a two-time Olympian who represented the red and white at both the 2008 Beijing and 2012 London Summer Olympics, competing in the 100m fly and 4x100m medley relay. A butterfly specialist, Bartoch was Swim Canada's Butterflyer of the Year on three separate occasions (2006, 2008, 2011) and holds three individual Canadian records in the discipline. He also was a member of the 4x100m medley relay team that currently holds the Canadian record in the event.
Following this past Olympic Games, Bartoch decided to retire from competition and join the coaching ranks as he completes his Master's in Kinesiology/Coaching, with an emphasis on Biomechanics, from Western University. He has previously completed a BSc in Physical Education with a Minor in Coaching from the University of Nevada.
"Joe is a very welcomed addition to the Golden Hawks swim program," commented Laurier head coach Russ Franklin. "He brings a lot of international and university competitive experience to the team and he will easily connect with team members as he just retired from competition after this year's London Olympics."Bartoch will begin his duties with both ROW and the Golden Hawks starting immediately.
