Ann Romney visits Elizabethtown College

Ann Romney talks about husband in exclusive interview

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. ?

The wife of a presidential candidate appeared in Lancaster County Monday to try and ignite a get out the vote effort among Republicans leading up to election day.

Gov. Tom Corbett introduced Ann Romney, the wife of the Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney before a standing-room only crowd at Elizabethtown College.

Romney told those who attended the Women for Mitt rally that her husband is ready for the second presidential debate.

"You certainly never hope to have that kind of win again, it's so unbalanced," Romney said of the previous debate.

In an exclusive interview, Romney talked about her role in the presidential campaign.

When asked about highlighting the softer side of her husband, Romney said, "Well, someone had to do that. He's such a good guy and a caring person and after the 43 years we've been married, it was so unfair how he's been categorized and it was my turn to step up and say, 'This is the guy I know.'"

The 63 year old described her husband as a "compassionate guy."

She said she visited Pennsylvania, because she believes there's still a chance for Republicans to win the Keystone state this year.

When asked for a closer look at her husband, Romney said, "We'll, there's one thing and that is he needs to have as many of his boys there as he can. I'm always there, but the most important thing is that he is surrounded by family."

Romney also said she had the chance to see the stage where the debate will be held Tuesday.
